This site provides excellent basic information about the box turtle including: its classification, its range, its food and habiat preferences, and how to sex the turtle. More importantly, the site explains why box turtles are becoming a threatened species even though it seems common today. The site explains that because of fragmentation the population of box turtles is declining.
